Each of these images has been individually hand drawn, cut and sandblasted by Brendon. No two are the same. They are fantastical landscapes from out of Brendon's head, but they are strongly influenced by the Queenstown Area of New Zealand where he spends much of his time.
Brendon has a long history of working with glass and understands the way that light reflects and refracts around inside the material. In glassmaking terms, he deliberately plans the composition of each piece to create "neoning", or the pooling of the light onto the parts of the landscape that he wants to bring out, or make pop.
The sandblasting process, done in many stages, is much like a relief carving. Brendon carefully controls the texture, flow, pressure and direction of the sand to get exactly the shape he wants.
Most pieces are cross-lashed in the stye of Maori hei toki, or adzes. Brendon does all this by hand too. Each of the cords are adjustable and are finished with Brendon's signature brass and copper handmade latches.
