Shepard's Whistles
As featured in Southern Rural Life newspaper.
These shepherd's whistles are an icon of New Zealand's farming history. Stockmen use them to command their dogs on the green lowlands or the tussocky high country all over rural New Zealand.
Brendon makes these from silver plated spoons. He forges them flat then into a fold, and drills the hole just right so they work perfectly. The handle is cut and shaped to hold a cord and they are worn around the neck, just as generations of farmers have done before.
Brendon's whistles all work well, and many are used on working farms by farmers for the muster.
